Designated the first time as Natural World Heritage in 1994, visitors coming here often compare the bay to Guilin in China, but in reality Halong bay is even considered more spectacular. Thousands of islets dot the crystal clear water surface crafting thousands of pictures and telling hundreds of legendary stories.

Halong Bay is the stuff of myths and naturally the Vietnamese have concocted one. “Halong” means “dragons descending to the sea”. The legend told that there was a great dragon living on the mountain that created the bay. As it charged towards the coast, its flailing tail gouged out valleys and crevasses. When it finally plunged into the sea, the area filled with water, leaving only the pinnacles visible.

Administratively, Halong bay is belong to Halong city, Quang Ninh province. However, we must say, the city is not ideal introduction to an incredible world heritage. This context concerns very much to the developing policy of local authorities. The offshore hotels is promoted heavily with “massage” then most of travelers to Halong bay nowadays recommended to sleep on board. In short, Halong bay is definitely the attraction whilst Halong city is not

Besides cruising there, the travelers can visit caves and grottos. Moreover, cruises recently have created additional activities to attract more tourists such as: Tai Chi on sundeck, Rock climbing, Snorkeling, Kayaking, Catering dine to caves in special occasions. The various activities ensure the stay onboard up to 3 nights still worth every minute.

Halong bay is in North Vietnam then the season is quartered as general context. The best time to visit is from Sep till March. However, being aware of that this is winter in North and temperature can drop down to 10C. From April to August is best value with lots of promotion
