Crossing The Red River of Hanoi, passing over a green mudflats of corn, soybean and plentiful types of vegetables, The Historical Long Bien Bridge stands with the Hanoian and Vietnamese people from colonial time until now, despite damages due to the two wars against French’s and American’s Army.
Built in 1899 and finished 1902, The Bridge was named Doumer Bridge – based on Paul Doumer (The Governor-General of French Indochina at that time). However, the name Long Bien Bridge is used widely by Vietnamese people.
From early morning until midnight, the bridge is always crowed with lines of people moving for earn living. Because of its’ beauty, the bridge becomes a favorite place of photographers and couples, especially during sunrise and sunset.
